Hi there, I’m Nick. I’m the owner of Built Different.

I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Personal Trainer.

Sports and weightlifting are a huge part of my identity, and when I had unsuccessful surgery for my low back in 2017, it was truly devastating. I was bounced around the healthcare system pre- and post-surgery and searched the internet for any solution for my pain. I was told mixed advice from providers such as “never deadlift again” or “do these 3 exercises and your pain will go away”. Instagram accounts told me that one muscle was the “root cause” of my pain; unfortunately, these avenues were dead ends as far as improving my pain. It wasn’t until I found a competent physical therapist that it all clicked for me. I felt like I was being listened to and exercises were being prescribed based on my goals, not a cookie-cutter program that can be found online. Part of the recipe for my success was one-on-one care, communication with my physical therapist within a timely manner, and someone who actually developed a personalized plan focused on my goals. With this help, I was finally able to break through and get back to heavy weightlifting. More importantly, I found the confidence in my own physical capabilities to push myself towards new goals, such as deadlifting 500lbs and hiking the 48 4k footers in NH (still a work in progress). I am not “pain-free”, but I am now fully equipped to manage my pain, live a fulfilled life, and push myself without fear that my body will fail me.

My goal of Built Different is to provide a service for individuals across the entire rehab, health and fitness, and performance spectrum in response to the downfalls of the traditional rehabilitation and fitness models. My priority is that each client receives personalized treatment, 1:1 care, and frequent and timely communication. Whether you are rehabbing a recent injury and want individualized PT, aren’t sure who to trust as a personal trainer, or just want to feel your best through a structured exercise program, this is your answer.
